"ARE THE FLOOD LIGHTS I SEE YONDER AT THE KART TRACK?"
They certainly are oh wise one! Following several years of debate about when, when, when, and more, "when is the club going to install flood lights", an historic decision was made at the General Club Meeting on 6 December 2005 to take the first step with the installation of suitable flood lighting for our circuit. It was decided at this meeting that the installation of flood lighting was a positive move forward.
A fact finding mission has been launched and further feedback will be provided to the members regarding cost, work program and the other million things that go with a project such as this. Quite clearly it was felt the move to flood lighting the track would allow the club to mount a well structured race program and endeavor to increase membership / participation whilst at the same time increase general revenue.
There are several steps that need to be undertaken before the switch is thrown and GKCV members embark on a new frontier for the club and we can go NIGHT RACING. Power supply is critical and will need to be upgraded before installation along with the mandatory admin work such as calling for expressions of interest, permits and approvals from affected parties.
