INTRODUCING YOUR NEW FLAG MARSHAL

Introducing the new GKCV Electronic Flag Marshal system. GKCV have developed a custom Electronic Flag Marshal system that will give control and functionality over the entire track. The Starter, the Clerk of Course (or his assistant) and a flag Marshall can control all or individual lights from one central location allowing any on track personnel to deal with incidents. In addition the system can be controlled via remote control for a Full course Red, Yellow or Green giving the driver status of Track/Race at flag points instantly. This system provides cost and time effectiveness and a secure solution to Flag Marshals. Using wireless technology, GKCV Electronic Flag Marshal system was designed so that we no longer require people to be on track unnecessarily. The GKCV Electronic Flag Marshal system has been designed to be user-friendly which utilises 3 main components:

Flag Light

LED lighting system utilises Red, Yellow, Green and Blue light cores that allows visibility from 300m away. Using LED light technology dramatically enhances the visibility of the marker compared to traditional flags being waved.

Remote Control

Hand held remote control units makes controlling the System and Track very easy.

Main Control Panel

Allowing total control over all flag points, this will ensure improved track side safety.

Designed and built by Robert Ringeri (Club Secretary), the GKCV Electronic Flag Marshal system is a low Voltage Wireless Lights System provides a much needed additional signal to Karters that a hazard exists, while also providing a visual for all officials and drivers as to the state of the track.

Transponders are compulsory effective July 1, 2010
With Australian Karting set to make the next step in its electronic era on July 1, members are encouraged to purchase their transponders by June 30.
As advised by the AKA last year, on July 1 it will be compulsory for all competitors to have a transponder fitted to their kart while competing – with no exceptions.
“The AKA sees transponder timing as the final step in our process to reform Karting through our Card (CMS) system and moves us into a new era in terms of the technology to be used in our sport,” said AKA National Treasurer Max Laybutt.
“With the licencing card system now active throughout Australia, adding transponders has ensured AKA members can take advantage of the most advanced system in Karting and focus on what we do best – racing!
“Transponders have already become a condition of entry for most major events during the early part of 2010 as the transition into a complete electronic has been rolled out.
“The use of transponders at race events sanctioned by the AKA across the country will become compulsory on July 1. This date is not changing, it is happening and karters should get in now to ensure they get their transponder at the discounted rate and are ready to race”
With the implementation of the compulsory transponders from July 1 host clubs will have the ability to provide direct and live timing to people at race meetings on your own laptop, post the results on the AKA website, and on Mylaps, the AMB Information site, as soon as the results are uploaded to the AKA Site they will also go to Mylaps.

Underage, unlicensed and using engines that they are not eligible for use

Just a reminder to you all, be aware of the following issues and ensure that this does not happen at our track.

Underage, unlicensed and using engines that they are not eligible for use. This is NOT permitted at any time as it contravenes AKA regulations and insurance

If an underage or unlicensed driver drives on the track, everybody’s insurance is null and void. This means if there is an incident where someone is injured there is no insurance coverage for anyone and you open yourself up for all sorts of legal litigation. This also exposes the Club and the Club’s licence – you could find yourself without a track on which to race and practice. Karters using the track in engines that they are NOT eligible to use or licenced for – they will not be covered by insurance and the responsibility will fall onto the club should anything happen.

We fully understand that we cannot control our track 24/7 but if we make our members aware via this websites we have at least shown our duty of care to inform members that this cannot happen.

It would be a shame if we had to revert to the system currently used in other states whereby members pay per practice session and sign in. This would also mean the employment of a full time caretaker/supervisor and the removal of all gate keys and free access to the club. You would then be limited to practice on set days and times.

Refer to the following rules:
13.02.2 Recognised Licences:
The AKA currently issue Licences for the following Divisions:
a) Midget, b) Rookies, c) Juniors, d) Seniors, e) International (under the direction of CIK Rules)

13.16 Age Divisions for NEW Licences:
All AKA licences are issued in one of four different divisions that are age related and or experience
related. All New licences are issued as either:
13.16.1 Midgets: aged from their seventh (7) birthday until their eleventh (11) birthday.
13.16.2 Rookies: aged from their 9th birthday until the end of the calendar year of their thirteen (13) birthday. Refer 13.21.2(a)
13.16.3 Juniors: aged from their twelfth (12) birthday until their sixteenth (16) birthday.
